COMENIUS PROJECT 2013-15, Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Poland and Turkey
The project started as a continuation of a previous partnership (work it out, comenius project 2011-13) and developed into a wider contribution to the local communities. This time the students were directly in charge of two types of initiatives: - peer educational activities on the "Eating by the Colours" philosophy addressed to pupils from the elementary schools (and kindergarten) through workshops and lectures; - survey about local healthy food and drinks producers (the "Colourful Producers"), implementation of maps, posters, brochures and a dedicated website for the sake of local and international consumers.
By working together and exchanging information we appreciated our countries uniqueness and promoted the value of local products; self-esteem from all member countries were also enhanced. At the same time, the outcomes of the project can now address the consumers towards a sustainable way of buying from the global market without a too harsh impact on the environment. There were 6 international meetings, one at each school, that allowed the students to build up together their lectures, presentations, workshops and glossaries, and to plan visits and interviews to the local producers on common grounds. During the visits the students shared visions, explored issues and put their workshops on trial. The project impact on the local communities was twofold: on the one hand local elementary schools benefited from the workshops and lectures delivered by the Comenius Teams and hopefully will embrace new "Colourful" menus in their canteens, on the other hand we hope the final product of the survey about the "Colour Producers" will help our communities to better Shop by the Colours.
